Feature

Your session on the Dynamic Island and lock screen

Start a workout and Plates keeps a live view on your iPhone, on the Dynamic Island and as a lock-screen Live Activity, so your set, your rest timer, and your interval countdown are always a glance away without reopening the app.

Where it shows up

Dynamic Island

Tap or long-press to see the workout name, elapsed time, current exercise with weight and reps, and the running rest timer.

Lock screen

A full Live Activity with your current set, the rest countdown, or a progress ring of completed sets when you're between exercises.

Apple Watch Smart Stack

The same live view appears on your wrist in the Smart Stack. See the Apple Watch app for more.

Rest timers that tick in real time

The rest countdown updates itself on the Dynamic Island and lock screen using the system's native timer, so it stays accurate to the second without draining your battery. When rest ends, you know at a glance, no need to unlock and open Plates.

Interval sessions, live outside the app

EMOM, AMRAP, Tabata, HIIT, and custom interval sessions surface the same way. During an interval you see the current phase (work or rest), the round number, and the phase countdown, all live on the Dynamic Island and lock screen. Start the session, pocket your phone, and run your rounds off the live view. Learn more about the timer and interval modes.

iPhone feature

The Dynamic Island and lock-screen Live Activity are iOS features (iOS 16.1 and later; the Dynamic Island itself appears on iPhone 14 Pro and newer). On Android and the web, timers run in the app with background notifications instead.

Try Plates free
